In honor of the marriage of our dear friends Katlyn & Raj, a few dozen of us celebrated with a week-long celebration on the Balearic Island of Ibiza. This included an afternoon cruise around the Bay of Sant Antoni and into the Western Mediterranean Sea.
We started westward, getting excellent views of the dramatic landscape, the afternoon sun casting it all in a gorgeous glow.
Past Punta d’en Ribes and Punta de Sa Pedrera is a cave near Buceo, by Cap de Sa Serra, and the popular beach of Cala Bassa.
Farther west still, toward Cala Compte and the extraordinary beaches by Sunset Ashram, is a little cove near Ses Roques, perfect for an afternoon group swim.
Our furthest point south-westward was Sa Figuera Borda, which features some neat topographic details. Moods were high as the sun began to lower.
Our vessel then hit the open water of Es Pallaret, heading toward the Northern bay of Se Fontanelles. We were meant to board a 70-person catamaran - suitable to Raj and Katlyn’s tastes - but that ship was unavailable. Our group was nonetheless content with our more modest boat, happy to be at sea in perfect weather, together, among the gorgeous scenery.
We reached our northeastern-most point of Ses Fontanelles, the bay that features Cap Nunó, and Punta de la Mare de Déu. Romance was hard to deny as the light struck loved ones perfectly.
We headed back to harbor and were treated with a moonrise above Badia de Portmany, as we glided past Cala Gració and Caló des Moro.
The trip was cinematic and sensational, at once too short and timed perfectly. In pictures, it lasts forever.
